By the numbers…
I’m back at it after taking some time away from writing to do some reading, get the webpage set up, do my day job, etc.
The website will continue to be a work in progress - I’m thinking of adding author notes and comments to each of my titles to give readers both an idea of what to expect and a chance to know what was on my mind when I was working on them. We’ll see how that goes.
In other news, I was thinking about the weekly “Friday Figures” over at r/WhyChooseAuthors (which you should definitely check out as a friendly space for WC readers and writers). For fun I thought I’d put together some numbers of my own. It turns out that over 7 current WIP, I have > 157k words written. Honestly, that feels both satisfying and embarassing. It represents a not insignificant amount of work. But it’s also maybe an indication that I should focus on finishing some of those before starting anything new. My WIP number includes works that I have (1) actually done writing on and which are not consciously back-burned (since I have a few of those as well) or (2) still in the brainstorming phase. I’ve always just kind of written whatever I feel like, including starting new projects without finishing current projects. That’s honestly how The Chains We Choose came to be - I had an idea and just started writing. But now it’s starting to feel a little unfair to the stories that are waiting to be finished. At least a couple of them have stalled because I don’t know what happens next, but I usually figure that out while I’m writing anyway. Time to just jump in and see where the story and the characters lead me.
So starting today, I’m going to focus on finishing Scents of Discovery which will be the third and final installment in the Scents of the Cities Omegaverse Trilogy. I haven’t decided yet what I’ll focus on after Discovery, but you can check out the WIP page if you’re curious about what else is in the works.
